– China they must stop supporting Russia if they want to enjoy good relations with the West – said the Secretary General NATO Jens Stoltenberg during a visit to Germany.
He added that Beijing is helping a lot Russia among others by sharing advanced technologies, such as semiconductors.
NATO chief on dependence on China: We cannot repeat this mistake
Jens Stoltenberg reported that last year Russia imported from China 90 percent microelectronicsused to produce missiles, tanks and planes.
– China is making it clear that it wants good relations with the West. It's difficult because at the same time Beijing still affects to the biggest conflict in Europe since World War II, he warned. The head of the Alliance also warned Western allies against dependence on China to the extent to which they once became dependent on Russia.
– In the past we made a mistake becoming dependent on Russian oil and gas. We cannot repeat this mistake with China. Such dependencies make us defenseless, emphasized the head of NATO.
The imposition of sanctions by the West has made the Russian economy dependent on Beijing. Thursday Vladimir Putin said that he plans to travel to China in May.
