UmaSofia Srivastava is saying goodbye to her title.
Two days after Noelia Voigt introduced she was stepping down from her role as Miss USA 2023, the 17-year-old shared her personal resignation as Miss Teen USA.
“After cautious consideration,” UmaSofia wrote in a Could 8 Instagram post, “I’ve determined to resign as I discover that my private values now not totally align with the path of the group.”
It was a troublesome resolution for the previous Miss New Jersey Teen USA, who gained the crown in September.
“After months of grappling with this resolution, I’ve made the selection to resign from the title of Miss Teen USA 2023,” she defined. “I’ll at all times look again on my time as Miss NJ Teen USA fondly, and the expertise of representing my state as a primary technology, Mexican-Indian American on the nationwide degree was fulfilling in itself.”
UmaSofia—the primary Miss New Jersey USA to win the coveted title—admitted that whereas she did not anticipate her reign to finish like this, she’s trying ahead to the long run as she finishes eleventh grade and applies for schools.
