“Not one more” protests after the death of pregnant 33-year-old Dorota

At the end of May, 33-year-old pregnant Dorota died in a hospital in Nowy Targ. The woman was there in the fifth month of pregnancy after the waters had broken. She died three days later from septic shock. A few hours before his death, an ultrasound showed fetal demise. In this case an investigation is underway, conducted by the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice.

Following media reports, the Ombudsman for Patients’ Rights ex officio initiated an investigation into the woman’s death. The hospital published a short statement in which it announced full cooperation with investigators and expressed sympathy for the family of the deceased.

He met in Parliament on Wednesday parliamentary team on reproductive rights. In addition to politicians, the meeting was attended by experts, activists from the National Women’s Strike and representatives of the Ombudsman for Patients’ Rights. No one from the Ministry of Health was there.

One of the women protesting in Wrocław said that she was the mother of two teenage children. – I’m doing it for them, for my children, because I probably won’t get pregnant again, but they probably will soon. I want them to have a choice, she said.

The protesting man emphasized that he cares about the health of his daughters. “We want women to have a choice, to keep our children safe,” he said. Another protesting woman admitted that she would like “hospitals to be places where the lives of mothers, first and children, during pregnancy are protected.” “It’s the mother who is most important during pregnancy,” she said.

During the protests in the Sejm, the club unexpectedly gathered PIS. On the way to the meeting, the party president Jaroslaw Kaczynski he was asked about the situation of pregnant women in Poland in the light of recent events. “This is one big deception on your part,” he told reporters. He also stated that “the whole action is a propaganda abuse.”

Minister of Health wants to “finish the guidelines”

On Monday, the Minister of Health spoke about the matter Adam Niedzielski. At the conference, he assured that “every woman in this country has the right, in the event of a threat to her health or life, to terminate her pregnancy, i.e. to abortion.” “These two conditions should be treated separately,” he said.

– This right to abortion has also been clarified at my request – he reminded. These are guidelines presented by two consultants: in the field of obstetrics and gynecology and in the field of perinatology.

Niedzielski announced that a new team would be formed in this regard. – Today, I will appoint a team that will prepare even more detailed guidelines, with a larger group of experts, not just two consultants in the field of gynecology, obstetrics and perinatology – he declared.
