Storm warning in the Baltic Sea. Some cruises have been canceled

Due to bad weather conditions, the largest Polish ferry operator, Polferries, announced the cancellation of cruises between Poland and Sweden. We received the first information on this matter from one of the passengers on Kontakt24.

As Polferries informs on its website, due to bad weather, the Mazovia ferry, which was scheduled to sail from Świnoujście to Ystad on Tuesday at 10:30 p.m., and the ferry from Ystad to Świnoujście, which was scheduled to set off on Wednesday at 1:40 p.m., were suspended.

Departures of the Wawel ferry on the Gdańsk – Nynäshamn line, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at 6 p.m., were also canceled.

In addition, the departure of the Nova Star ferry, which will sail from Gdańsk on Thursday at 06:00 (instead of Wednesday 18:00).

Bad weather in the Baltic Sea

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued a warning about a storm in the Southeast Baltic Sea on Tuesday.

Winds from the east were forecast at 7 to 8, gusting to 9 on the Beaufort scale. This means wind speeds of 50 to 87 kilometers per hour. The waves can reach up to 4 meters high.

“Air temperature -2°C in the north to 0°C in the south. Visibility moderate to poor. Rain with snow at times, snow in the east and north,” we read in the IMWM press release.
