It was raining, it was slippery. A 60-year-old citizen of Ukraine ran off the road in a truck and crashed into the corner of one of the houses in Strzyżów (Lubelskie Voivodeship). Inside was a pregnant woman and a baby. Fortunately, nothing serious happened. The house is currently uninhabitable.
A destroyed house and a broken power line – this is the finale of the event that took place on Monday (July 17) after 13.30 in the village of Strzyżów in the Lubartów district. There, a truck crashed into a house on National Route 74.
– 60-year-old citizen Ukraine he was sober. He did not adjust his speed to the road conditions. It was raining, he probably skidded – says Edyta Krystkowiak of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Hrubieszów.
A fine of PLN 5,000 and 10 penalty points
The truck crashed into the corner of the house. Inside was a pregnant woman and a baby.
– Fortunately, nothing serious happened. The event was classified as a collision. The driver was fined PLN 5,000 and 10 penalty points.
It also downed a power line
The ambulance and fire department also attended.
“The actions of the fire brigade consisted in securing the scene, disconnecting the power supply in the vehicle and in the damaged building. As a result of damage to the overhead line, the power ambulance was called to the site to disconnect the connections” – said senior captain Marcin Lebiedowicz from the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Hrubieszów.
The construction supervision issued a ban on the use of the building
He also added that due to the significant damage to the structure of the building, the Poviat Building Supervision Inspector was summoned to the scene, who, after inspecting it, issued a ban on the use of the building.
In addition to three hosts from his unit, firefighters from TSO Horodło and TSO Strzyżów took part in the action. The intervention lasted more than three hours.
