Jens Stoltenberg in an interview with the German agency dpa expressed hope that Ukraine will become a member of NATO. Asked when Alliance may increase the number of its members, including by Kyivhe noted that he believes that this will happen in the next decade.

The conversation with Stoltenberg took place shortly before the NATO summit in Washington, scheduled for July 9-11. The outgoing head of the Pact also encouraged increasing military aid for Ukrainians. In his opinion, stronger support could lead to a quicker end to the war.

– The more long term liabilities we take, the faster the war will end. Putin believes that he can “wait us out”. We have to convince him that he cannot do this, and then we will create the conditions to end the war – he declared.

He added that he expects Ukraine's allies to increase supplies. ammunition and air defense means. – All our work is aimed at improving Ukraine and to better prepare it for joining the Alliance – he said.
