Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki arrived in Kiev on Friday, on the first anniversary of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. According to the Polish Press Agency, the head of the government laid a wreath at the memorial wall of the fallen and met with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
“One year after the start of Russian hostilities, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki went to Kiev to give a clear and measurable signal of continued support for the defence Ukraine ahead of Russia,” government spokesman Piotr Mueller wrote on Twitter. As he added, “right after the outbreak of the war, on March 15, we were in Kiev to ensure that Ukraine would not be left alone.”
The prime minister’s visit to Kiev on Friday was announced earlier by the secretary general PIS Krzysztof Sobolewski. As he pointed out, Morawiecki will probably take part in the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Sobolewski said that the prime minister went to Kiev with a message of support and information after his visit to Warsaw ended on Wednesday president of the United States Joe Biden and the arrangements made in Poland after Biden’s meeting with President Zelensky.
