They work at least half an hour a day for free, they have to stick to unrealistic timetables, they are punished “for the smallest stupidity”. The driver of the Municipal Bus Company told about the bad working conditions they face on a daily basis.

MZA drivers organized a press conference on Friday in front of the capital city hall. – You certainly don’t wonder what has to happen for the bus to arrive – Piotr Misnewicz, the bus driver from the Kleszczowa depot, addressed the inhabitants of Warsaw at the beginning.

Half an hour of work for free?

As he explained, each driver has a designated start time and it is usually 15 minutes before departure. – But we have to come to work earlier, because just taking the bus out of the parking space often requires moving two or even three buses – described the driver. He added that after that, the operating fluids need to be topped up. – If you travel by bus powered by compressed natural gas, you need to refuel the bus – he noted. – All this consumes us 40-45 minutes, and we are paid for 15 minutes. We work for at least half an hour every day – he summed up.

The second driver, Krzysztof Pękalski, complained about “unrealistic timetables”. – There are such that I do not know if Kubica would be able to get there in the morning, because, for example, we have 55 minutes for 49 stops, where we still have to take passengers, exchange, lights, and above all, safe driving – he enumerated.

“Penalties for the smallest stupidity”

The driver, Dariusz Szczepański, accused that “the company’s management is doing everything it can to prevent these drivers.” As he pointed out, a “list of penalties” is being kept. “And that’s nonsense,” he said. – These are not punishments for misdemeanors, but simply for the smallest stupidity. This is due to the fact that the driver is removed from the bonus – he pointed out. – Mr. President, I don’t know (…) you should wake up immediately if you want to maintain public transport. Unless you don’t care at all. Do you want Varsovians to walk? – He was asking.

We asked MZA spokesman Adam Stawicki to refer to the drivers’ allegations. We are waiting for answer.
