“The Mazovian Provincial Conservator of Monuments ordered conservation and construction works to be carried out in the building of the former power plant of the Letniska Falenica Commune” – informed the conservator on social media.

As we read in the message posted on Facebook, “this is a control order to be carried out by Stoen Operator Sp. z o. o. – the owner of the monument. The works are intended to protect the monument from significant damage or destruction.”

MWKZ reminded that the building, along with the property, has been in the register of monuments since July 2018. It was put into use in 1929. “It is a testimony to the intensive development of Falenica. It is one of the last relics of post-industrial buildings in Falenica” – indicated the conservator. He also noted that the decision was issued “with the rigor of immediate enforceability”.

He also shared photos showing the condition of the building in 2008 and now.

The building at 2 Gruntowa Street has been listed as a monument since July 2018. The building is one of the last relics of post-industrial buildings in Falenica, preserved practically unchanged. It was put into use on April 1, 1929. It documents the intensive development of Falenica, as well as former summer resorts near Warsaw during the Second Polish Republic.

It served the residents and holidaymakers

Launching the power plant – for the authorities of the then commune – was a strategic investment, enabling independent and independent operation. The availability of electricity attracted industry (requiring a huge demand for electricity) and increased the comfort of residents and vacationers. This also proves the ongoing process of electrification of smaller towns in Poland.

“Despite its industrial function, the building also has artistic values. They result mainly from a varied and asymmetrical shape, with facades enriched with modest wall decorations and windows of various shapes and divisions. as well as wooden and terracotta floors (finished with square tiles in a checkerboard pattern)” – said the conservator.

“It is a testimony to the intensive development of Falenica. It is one of the last relics of post-industrial buildings in Falenica” – he added.
