A 53-year-old man from the commune of Zadzim (Łódź Voivodeship), who has been charged with the murder of a 78-year-old mother, is facing a life sentence. Neighbors who had been unable to contact her for a long time informed the police that something bad might have happened to the woman. On the spot, uniformed officers found the woman’s body, and in the next room – her drunk son. The suspect was remanded in custody for three months.
Police officers from Poddębice appeared at the 78-year-old’s house on Sunday, January 22. They came after reports from concerned neighbors who noticed that the elderly woman had not appeared for a long time – and no one could contact her. Firefighters who had been called in earlier were already working on the spot, who made it possible to enter the closed premises.
– Uniforms, after entering the living room, found the corpse of a woman on a sofa – says junior aspirant Sylwia Kaźmierczak from the police in Poddębice.
He adds that the 78-year-old’s son was sleeping in the other room.
– The man had almost three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. In an interview with the officers, he confessed to murdering his mother – says junior asp. Kazmierczak.
Charges and arrest
The 53-year-old was arrested. After sobering up, he was charged with manslaughter and was sentenced to life in prison.
“According to the court’s decision, he was temporarily arrested for three months,” the policewoman said.
He adds that the circumstances of the case are being investigated by investigators from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Poddębice.
