Zbigniew Ziobro, as he himself informed, has a firearms license, including for sports purposes. In an interview for “Super Express” published on Friday, he was asked when and under what circumstances he liked shooting.
“It’s quite a funny story,” he said. – When I completed my apprenticeship at the Silesian Prosecutor’s Office, the prospect of working in a new institution appeared during the AWS government. It was the progenitor CBA. The address was four minutes from my apartment in Krakow, so I decided to become a legal adviser in this institution. There was also a job offer as an operational officer, which, however, required the ability to use weapons. So I was sent for a two-week barracks exercise in the use of short and long weapons, said the Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General.
He added that the training made him discover “a knack for shooting a pistol”. – I wasn’t very good at shooting with a rifle, and I had extremely good results with a pistol. I liked shooting anyway. Maybe because I was the only one on the course who was at ease, and the other participants were people on duty who competed with each other. So the looseness turned out to be helpful in precision shooting – said Ziobro. He noted that “good shooting requires precision and training that goes beyond the atmosphere at the shooting range.”

Ziobro: If I had to defend my family, I wouldn’t hesitate
When asked if he decided to apply for a firearms license because of the so-called Jan S., the king of boosters, who was to order the murder of the Minister of Justice, Ziobro said that “when he found out that someone who had huge cash, because he earned several million zlotys on boosters during the year, turned to a person using explosives, I applied for a gun for protection.”
– If I could shoot, the gun could be used to guarantee the safety of myself and my family. That’s why I applied for a gun in the first place – for defense – he added.
He was also asked if he had a gun with him when he relieved SOP officers.
Ziobro said that he “cooperates with the officers and I know that they have their families.” “Respecting their time, I figured they didn’t have to be at my house 24 hours on weekends, and since I have a gun and live in a remote area, I could manage if necessary.”
When asked if he would have used a gun in such a situation, he replied: – I am in favor of a broad interpretation of self-defense. If I had to protect my family, I wouldn’t hesitate.

In mid-March, Ziobro took part in a press conference at the Bełchatów Coal Mine. After the end, the participants laid a wreath at the plaque commemorating the victims of mining accidents. Then, as a result of a gust of wind, which lifted the minister’s jacket, one could see the weapon stuck in his belt.

– For several years, for sport and recreation, I shoot at the shooting range on weekends. That’s why when I returned to Warsaw after the weekend, where I keep my weapons on a daily basis, I had them with me – he said then. At a press conference the next day, he announced that he “has the status of a victim in the case of ordering a murder”.
When asked what gun he was carrying, he replied that it was a Glock 26 pistol “with some modifications for sporting purposes.” “It’s not a classic Glock you can buy in a store,” he said.
