Krzysztof Śmiszek from the Left headed the parliamentary team for equal rights for the LGBT+ community. “There will be a lot of work, because the last few years have been mainly about hatred and abuse of other people. It’s time for equality!” – wrote the politician on the X platform (formerly Twitter).
On Wednesday, the Sejm established a parliamentary team for equal rights for the LGBT+ community. Krzysztof Śmiszek, an MP from the Left, became the chairman, and his deputy was MP Anna Maria-Żukowska, also from the Left.
“I would like to thank my colleagues for entrusting me with the position of chairman. There will be a lot of work, because the last few years have been mainly about hatred and abuse of other people. It’s time for equality!” – wrote MP Śmiszek on the X platform (formerly Twitter).
She published a photo of work on creating the team on Wednesday on social media Barbara NowackaMP of the Civic Coalition.

The team included 24 MPs and one senator. The vice-chairmen of the team were: Marcin Józefaciuk (KO), Jolanta Niezgodzka (KO), Wioleta Tomczak (Polska 2050-TD) and Anna Maria Żukowska (Left). The team also includes, among others: Aleksandra Gajewska (KO), Wanda Nowicka (Left Wing), Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus (Left Wing), Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk (Left Wing), Klaudia Jachira (KO), Barbara Nowacka (KO) and Franciszek Sterczewski (KO).
This is the second term of office of the Polish Sejm in which such a parliamentary team was established. The previous composition was established in 2019 and Krzysztof Śmiszek was also elected as the chairman of this group.
“The first ever Parliamentary Team for the Equality of the LGBT+ Community has just been established. Krzysztof Śmiszek was elected chairman. He announces close cooperation with social organizations and the preparation of laws supporting and protecting LGBT+ people,” wrote Maciej Gdula, then MP of the Left, in 2019.
