Andrzej Duda and Joe Biden’s envoy, John Kerry, discussed issues related to climate change, the energy system and cooperation in the field of nuclear energy in Bucharest – said presidential minister Marcin Przydacz. The meeting took place during the Three Seas Initiative Business Forum.

The President of Poland and the plenipotentiary of the President of the United States for climate met on Thursday in Bucharest on the sidelines of the Three Seas Initiative Business Forum, taking place immediately after the summit of the Initiative countries.

– The meeting in Bucharest of President Andrzej Duda with President Joe Biden’s special envoy to the Three Seas Summit has ended. It was a bilateral meeting emphasizing the importance of Polish-American relations. John Kerry is an important figure in the establishment in Washington, a former head of American diplomacy, currently dealing with energy and climate issues. The head of the Presidential Office of International Policy added that there was talk about changing the energy system in a fair formula. This is intended to ensure that countries that inherited an unwanted legacy of very high-emission energy after communism have the opportunity to implement these changes on a fair basis, so that “people do not suffer and at the same time that Poland’s energy security is guaranteed.”

“Advanced talks” on nuclear energy

As he noted, the United States recognizes Poland’s role in the recent energy transformation. Przydacz said that the conversation also concerned cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. – We know that there are advanced talks with the American side. What we are witnessing today is the tightening of these relations, also building a positive atmosphere for this business cooperation, but it is known that energy is also a matter of security – said the minister.

On Thursday, Przydacz said, President Duda talked with the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, the Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolau and the President of Moldova Maia Sandu. The main topic of the talks was security on NATO’s eastern flank.
