Armenia-Azerbaijan dispute. The conflict has been going on for over 30 years

The conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan continues since the fall of the Soviet Union and mainly concerns the dispute over – formally belonging to Baku, but inhabited mostly by Armenians – Nagorno-Karabakh.

During over 30 years of history in the region there were three wars. The last one started in September 2023, but due to the overwhelming advantage of Azerbaijani forces, it ended after one day there was a ceasefire in favor of Baku. The turmoil forced… 100 thousand Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh escape to Armenia, which has less than three million inhabitants.

Yerevan has been supported for years by Moscowand Baku by Ankara. Attempts to gain international support for the disputed region prompted Armenia to join the structures of the International Criminal Courtwhich the Kremlin perceived as his hostile move (the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin – red.).
