This is not the result we were counting on, we need to adjust the strategy for the European Parliament elections – this is what Krzysztof Gawkowski, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs, said about the Left's result in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24. At the same time, he emphasized that there should be “fewer disputes, more leniency” in the ruling coalition. He also said that in the European Parliament elections, the parties forming the ruling coalition will participate in three blocs.
On Sunday, Poles elected nearly 47,000 councilors of municipalities, counties and voivodeship assemblies, as well as almost 2.5 thousand commune heads, mayors and city presidents.
Gawkowski on the Left's result: we should all beat our chests
The results were commented on in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 by Krzysztof Gawkowski from the Left, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs. According to incomplete data nationwide, his party received less than seven percent of the votes in the provincial assemblies elections.
When asked who should beat his chest for such a result of his formation, he replied: – All of us. This is not the result we were hoping for. And it must be honestly said that a correction of the strategy for the European Parliament elections is needed.
– We also need to think deeply about whether we addressed the messages correctly, among other things, whether we were prevented from achieving a good result by disputes within the coalition – he added.
– I don't look at it (in this way – ed.) that this dispute was caused by Włodzimierz Czarzasty, because I think that somewhere in the DNA of the Left there is the idea that we have to fight for the rights that the Left has in its program, including case of women's rights. However, I think that we can conduct these conversations in such a way that they do not go outside, but lead to us effectively achieving the goal. And the goal is to put women's rights on the Sejm agenda, which I believe will happen this week, he continued.

Gawkowski: less disputes, more gentleness
Gawkowski admitted that “there are many problems that have appeared on the agenda in recent weeks.”
– Without an in-depth analysis, I am not yet able to say (…) what the groups of voters were and who changed their mind and why. But I know one thing today. I believe that mobilizing the electorate based only on a few simple issues related to human rights is not enough. That is, it is not enough to say that we are fighting for women's rights, because it is very important to us and we will fight all the time. We need to enter more deeply into social and social paths, and I believe that this is the task of both the government and our leftists, he emphasized.
At the same time, Gawkowski said that there should be “fewer disputes, more leniency” in the coalition. – And maybe this is also a way to ensure a better result in the European elections – he added.
Gawkowski on the European Parliament elections: the same blocks are coming as in these elections
Gawkowski was also asked whether the groups forming the government coalition would participate in the European elections together. He replied in the negative. – These decisions have already been made in all parties – he said.
– The same blocks are coming – Civic Coalition, Third Road and Left – said Gawkowski.
He was also asked who would run in these elections on behalf of his party. – I think Robert Biedroń will run. I think that other famous names will also run. We are before lists (before making lists – ed.) – he said. He added that the lists of candidates should be created within the next two-three weeks.
