We can fully understand why Poles are concerned, we are concerned about it – this is how John Kirby, spokesman for the US National Security Council, replied to the questions of Marcin Wrona, the correspondent of “Fakty” TVN in Washington. A US official said Congress has until the end of the year to decide on funding for military aid to Ukraine. – This is a particularly dangerous time (…). Winter is coming, Kirby emphasized, pointing to the threat to Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

The fate of the next tranches of funds hangs in the balance United States they would hand over to fighting Ukraine. American Congress has still not made a decision on funds for military assistance to Poland’s eastern neighbor. It’s as much as $60 billion.

For the allocation of funds to support Ukraine, the president Joe Biden he has been appealing to Congress for two months now.

“Putin will not give up on his plan to erase Ukraine from the map”

John Kirby, spokesman for the US National Security Council, believes that if Congress does not accede to the president’s request in this regard, the United States “will not have the resources to continue support for Ukraine.”

Marcin Wrona, the correspondent of “Fakty” TVN in Washington, asked the spokesman what consequences this would mean for Poland. – Putin will not give up on his plan to conquer the entire country (Ukraine – ed.), erasing it from the map as an independent nation. If he gets Ukraine, he will be on the eastern flank FOR THIS. We can fully understand why Poles are concerned about this. We are concerned about this, emphasized the American official.

– We helped Ukraine, and now they have managed to retake almost 50 percent of the territories in these two years. Our partners and allies, including Poland, were able to do this without soldiers in the field. There are no Americans and Poles there. The Ukrainians themselves did it, said a representative of the US National Security Council.

Kirby emphasized several times that from the point of view of American funds, Congress only has until the end of the year to make a decision regarding financial support for Ukraine. – And this is a particularly dangerous time for Ukraine (…). Winter is coming. I know, I’ve been there. I provided some information about Putin’s deliberate intentions to use energy again. To attack Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure, to once again hit Ukrainians in the coldest months of the year, the spokesman said.

“The effect could be catastrophic”

Answering subsequent questions from Marcin Wrona, the spokesman for the US National Security Council emphasized that “the United States is basically leading this international effort to support Ukraine.”

– Many other countries are looking at us, waiting for our leadership. We are the largest aid provider to Ukraine and if we simply pull the plug, the effect that this could have on other countries and their ability to support Ukraine could be catastrophic. This will be a gift for Putin, a Christmas present, because he will get exactly what he wanted: Ukraine weakened, the West divided – said John Kirby.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was scheduled to speak at a closed briefing for US senators, which – as was speculated – was intended to convince parliamentarians to support Biden’s request to allocate funds of $106 billion to support Ukraine and Israelas well as for other security needs.

At the last minute, as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced, Ukrainian leader canceled the briefing due to the “emergency” of the matter, which he must take care of. No further details were provided.
