A herd of wild boars appeared near the Podwawelski estate in Krakow. It's a sow with cubs. The animals were looking for food, paying no attention to passers-by. We remind you how to behave when meeting an animal.

A recording of a herd of about 10 weaners with a sow was published on Wednesday on X by social activist Maciej Fijak. The several-second video shows animals behind the fence digging in the ground in search of food. Some little ones are more occupied with trying to jump over each other than with their meals. All this is observed by an adult – most likely a sow.

According to Fijak, he came across wild boars on Ceglarska Street. It is about 2.5 kilometers from the Wawel Castle, close to the ecological area and the Zakrzówek reservoir.

The animals seen in the video do not pay much attention to their surroundings, but the Krakow city hall reminds that wild boars – especially females with weaners – can be dangerous.

“When meeting them, you should remain calm, and if you see them from a distance, move away and do not make sudden movements. Under no circumstances should you approach them or feed them. However, when you do meet them, it is best to remain still so as not to provoke the animal to attack ” – we read on the website jestekowkrakowie.pl

Officials also appeal that in places where fresh tracks or droppings of wild boars have been observed, dogs should be kept on a leash and under no circumstances set them against wild boars – such an encounter may end tragically for the pet.
