Jacek Kurski, Andrea Bocelli, TVP. PLN 4.5 million was spent and a notification was sent to the prosecutor's office

On April 4, 2021, during Easter, the “Miracle of Life” concert was broadcast on TVP. It was then that viewers of the then government television could watch a performance by the Italian artist Andrea Bocelli. The tenor sang great hits, including the hit “Con te partirò (Time to say goodbye)”.

The then head of TVP, Jacek Kurski, boasted about the success of the concert. “Andrea Bocelli's concert 'The Miracle of Life' was watched by 4 million viewers. I would like to thank the Maestro and his staff, the creation and production of TVP, the Podlasie Philharmonic Orchestra, the WOK choir for creating it, and the viewers of Polish television – for experiencing this wonderful spiritual and artistic event together,” he wrote Kurski on April 5, 2021 on the X platform.

As Onet writes, the “Miracle of Life” concert in 2021 cost almost PLN 4.5 million. The amount – according to Onet – PLN 4 million 338 thousand 795 is included in the contract that the then head of the TVP Entertainment Creation and Fixture Agency signed with World Media on March 12, 2021 (just a day before the recording of the concert).

The television was to hire an external company, World Media, although it had its own Entertainment Creation and Framing Agency, which employs almost 60 people.

Andrea Bocelli was accompanied by artists from the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic, as well as the Warsaw Chamber Opera. World Media was supposed to sign contracts with artists on March 9 and 10, 2021, a few days before concluding the contract with TVP.

According to Onet, the concert cost estimates also include subcontractors of World Media (WM Capital and WM Horeca – both based in Iłowo, Mazovia), with capital ties to this company. However, the next intermediary, Stars of Poland, received the most money. Of the three million zlotys transferred to this company, Andrea Bocelli was to receive PLN 2.3 million (EUR 500,000).

Onet's informant claims that “the upper limit of salary for such an artist for such a concert is approximately EUR 250,000.”

Onet writes that Stars of Poland appears in the cost estimates of at least 20 more concerts organized by World Media for TVP. Its headquarters is located in one of the blocks of flats in Warsaw's Wawrzyszew district. However, the National Court Register contains information that she was previously registered in an apartment in Praga Południe. Today, the World Media company is located at the same address – writes the portal.

As Onet found out, the president and majority shareholder of World Media is Robert Klatt – the creator and leader of the disco polo band Classic. Klatt for years he has also been involved in popularizing this music in the media. In the end credits of the “Miracle of Life” concert, Klatt appeared as a co-writer with Mikołaj Dobrowolski and Tomasz Klimek. The latter was also placed in the “director” column. Klimek, who was associated with Polsat for years, is the ex-husband of Joanna Kurska – reminds Onet.

According to the information obtained by the portal, until 2019, World Media organized over 40 concerts for TVP, including “Benefis of the Boys band”, “Holiday tour of Dwójka”, “All of Poland sings to John Paul II” and “Murem za polskiego uniform” and the already mentioned “Miracle of Life”. According to Onet, World Media's revenue in 2018 was PLN 9.1 million, a year later PLN 15.6 million, in 2020 (pandemic) PLN 11.9 million, in 2021 as much as PLN 24.5 million, and in 2022 PLN 26.7 million.

Onet also emphasizes that Robert Klatt's Classic band also performed as a star at TVP concerts. According to the portal, the band earned PLN 50,000 for performing at the New Year's Eve 2021/22.

Klatt wasn't the only star of the party. His company was to sign an agreement three days before New Year's Eve, in which World Media appears as the company providing the performance in Poland of Jason Derulo – the main star of that edition of New Year's Eve in Zakopane – writes Onet.

According to Onet's information, the contract amounted to USD 622,000 (approximately PLN 2.5 million). This is surprising because a year later, Polish Television invited the Black Eyed Peas to Poland for New Year's Eve, signing a contract with the band's American agent without any Polish intermediaries. However, at that time Jacek Kurski was no longer on Woronicza Street – notes the portal.

Shortly after Jacek Kurski left TVP, she stopped cooperating with World Media. As Onet unofficially informs, between 2019 and 2022, Robert Klatt's company received transfers from Telewizja Polska in the amount of nearly PLN 60 million. The next president of television, Mateusz Matyszkowicz, finally got rid of Tomasz Klimek.

The new TVP team submitted a notification to the prosecutor's office regarding the organization of the “Miracle of Life” concert. The press office of Telewizja Polska confirmed to Onet that the report had been submitted to the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw. TVP also announced that it had signed 55 contracts with World Media in recent years. “The reasons for commissioning such a large number of projects to World Media are unknown,” public television reported in a statement to the website.

According to Onet's information, the notification mentions possible actions to the detriment of the company and the risk of significant property damage.

Jacek Kurski, in response to questions asked by Onet, said that what convinced him to join World Media was “the creativity and ingenuity rarely seen in the industry, such as in the case of the proposal to organize Christmas carol concerts abroad, but in places close to the hearts of millions of Poles, such as Vilnius, Lviv or Chicago”, and Klatt's company was supposed to have “exceptionally good contacts with managers of foreign stars”.

Jacek Kurski explained the scale of cooperation with World Media to Onet by the fact that “you rarely change those who work well.” The former president of TVP also said that Mateusz Matyszkowicz resigned from the services of Klatta “out of the need to distinguish himself” from his predecessor.

“It turned out worse and more expensive. TVP, like a child in the fog, paid for Mel C's performance, and the artist resigned from performing on New Year's Eve after signing the contract and receiving payment. At the same event, there was a scandal with the Black Eyed Peas band (who were paid in advance). twice as much as any spent on any star during my presidency) and who nevertheless committed an inappropriate ideological demonstration on stage, reducing TVP to the role of an ATM and a supplicant,” Kurski wrote in response to Onet's questions.
